Board of Directors

Two years after the banking crisis erupted, car makers are coming to market with ever more eco-friendly and excellent cars featuring all electric, range extender, hybrid and conventional powertrains.

This demonstrates once again the industry’s ability to reinvent itself while facing one of the deepest recessions in decades, one legacy of which is underlying demand that is still well below its previous heights. The recession has also influenced the shifting patterns of growth around the world, with continuing opportunities in Asia and other emerging markets.

Bosal’s core business is to meet OE and Aftermarket customer needs for emission control by offering hot and cold end solutions around the globe.

To meet those needs, we continually invest in our knowledge base and in our facilities, which cover the acoustic, durability and emissions performance of complex systems operating in extreme environments. We prove and exploit these innovations in the automotive and other market sectors.

I am confident that Bosal has the people, facilities, knowledge and experience to meet the challenges that our customers face in the future.

Dr. h.c. Karel Bos (1928)
Non-Executive Director

Looking back on my first year as Bosal’s Group Chief Executive Officer, it is clear that this company, a leading Tier 1 supplier to the automotive industry, has great strength in its independence and its status as a family-owned business.

Despite the difficult economic circumstances we have continued investing in employees, equipment and process technologies to cement our position as a global Tier 1 supplier that is at the forefront of materials know-how and application.

We have commissioned our new in-house emission test facility for engines and vehicles and a unique suite of test equipment to research the material characteristics of steels at elevated temperatures. We have also established joint ventures around the world and have begun production of exhaust systems in Brazil, a vital market which has recently overtaken Germany to become the fourth-largest market for passenger car and light commercial vehicle sales.

We are proud to be the global launch supplier for a plug-in hybrid with range extender, a vehicle which has great significance for the auto industry. Looking to the future we will expand our global footprint and our technical leadership in the design and application of hot and cold end systems and related products. We are growing our collaboration with major OEM’s around the world, and also extending our Aftermarket and accessory market penetration with innovative products and exemplary customer support.
